Ah, summer. The time when life is at a slower pace and you can linger over your morning coffee on the back porch. The time of the year when you spend less time in front of a computer and more time outside in the garden.
Eh, not so much. Our schedules mean that we’re both home more (HOORAY!), but it also means that we depends way more on my Little Leaf income (PRESSURE!). As a result, I still struggle to not spend most of my day in front of my computer. Leaving for the farm two weeks ago threw me into panic mode last week.
Anyway! I have been having so much fun the past few months working with all kinds of fun, fantastic people on their fun, fantastic projects. I seem to have started to create a niche for myself working with authors and copywriters – which I must say that I am completely digging since I love to read. And I love when people freelance as writers since I’ve found so much joy and fulfillment in freelancing myself. Three cheers for new adventures, yes?
Here are some of the latest designs I’ve been working on since I last shared with you a few months ago.
Coffee & Sunshine // WordPress Design
Amy is a lovely person and I was delighted when she asked me to redesign her website and blog. She wanted both a landing page (ooo, professional!) and a blog. I created a fresh, bold color palette for her site, a bright navigation menu, and scalloping around the edges. It’s easy to navigate and I’m still getting comments from new clients about how much they love Amy’s design!
Press Play // WordPress Design
Melissa loves travel, music, reading, and setting goals for herself. I created rollover buttons for those categories in the header using Melissa’s own photos, adding a personal touch to category navigation. I also pulled the sketch font from the header to her custom social media icons. Melissa is currently traveling the world. I AM JEALOUS.
Neil G. Gordon Writing & Editing Services // WordPress Design
Neil is ridiculously fun. And his website reflects that. His website is professional, but the copy is playful and engaging. The website features a front page with slideshow of brief testimonials, a blog with which Neil can demonstrate more of his writing style, and plenty of pages of services. This was such a fun project.
Alphadeltaromero // WordPress Design
April is a self-described gypsy hippie mama. April sounds like a lot of fun, no? Her site integrated her work as an artist and as a health coach with her life as a mom. It’s a wonderful blend.
It’s Like I’m…Mmmagic! // WordPress Design
Brandy is a wonderful writer. And now she has a bright custom design to complement her fabulous blog.
Katie Blogs // WordPress Design
Bright colors and bold fonts work together to create a fun, colorful space for Katie to blog.
Pursuit // WordPress Design
Mel is a freelance writer and now she can point clients to her site that is professional, but still very her (note: see her bio pic on the front page. Yesss.)
SJL Original // Blogger Design
A pretty little craft blog with a spunky, fun author. Since Stacie’s jewelry is gorgeous, I wanted to feature it front and center in her header. It also serves to instantly indicate the type of work she does and the focus of the blog (along with the tagline).
kjpugs // WordPress Design
A textured background, custom pug portraits, and label-style buttons – perfect for Kelly’s quirky, fun blog.
Wedding Program // Print Design
A simple wedding program to coordinate with the invitations. I was able to perfectly match the typography on the invites to the program, thanks to the wonders of the internet!
Julia Woods // WordPress Design
Julia loved Anthropologie’s website with its subtle textures and use of typewriter fonts, so I used both of those elements in her site design, along with a gorgeous muted palette.

I’m currently booking projects to start in mid-August. I really love the diversity of my clients and projects. If you think you might be a good fit, I’d love to chat. Check out my site here.

I love when designers post the blogs they worked on. It’s the best way to find new people! :) And you do such great work.
