Personal & Life Updates

December Intentions.

Filed Under: Personal & Life Updates 6 Comments

l sew a gift or make a blanket for Gabe with some train fabric I have. I get to create digital things all the time, but creating something tactile is uniquely gratifying.

Do Christmassy things. I made a list of things I want to try to do during the month – fun stuff like seeing Santa and going to local holiday festivals and making eggnog and making popcorn garland for our tree. I’m not going to assign certain things to certain days – because I’m afraid of commitment and afraid of the 3-year-old who tends to have some rougher days. I don’t want to fight with him over the scheduled plans. So we’ll play it by ear. (Same with Christmas cards. Haven’t decided if we’ll do them yet! Eek. I’m a slacker.)

Reach a certain number goal for my income this month. I set income goals for myself every month, but it’s been a rough year personally, which affected my work a bit. I’m rebounding (yet again!) and want to end this year on a high note. Because next year is going to be better than EVER. I put my goal on a post-it note and stuck it on my monitor. Hopefully it’ll help me stay focused. It’s an arbitrary number, but I think I need to remind myself that I can set my mind on something and accomplish it. (Same reason I like running.)

Get my hair chopped. Or at least make an appointment. I am going to chop a foot off my hair. I am mostly tired of dealing with the length when washing and drying it in the winter. Sure, sometimes it looks pretty, but it can grow back. (And it grows fast.)

Have a holly, jolly December!

Last year I tried to do an “activity a day” advent calendar with Topher but it DID NOT WORK. Uncooperative little bugger. This year I didn’t even try – I just bought him one of those chocolate ones at the dollar store :D We’re still doing Christmassy things – it’s just a lot more flexible (and thus a lot more fun!)

I assigned days to my Christmassy stuff, but they’re easy enough to switch. I usually look at them before the kids pull them from the date on the advent calendar and decide if I want to switch. Plus there are a few things that are only on specific days (boat parade, Rockapella holiday concert) so those are already on dates.

Your hair is so beautiful! But I’m sure it’s going to beautiful shorter too.

Here’s to happier 2014s for both of us! I am so anxious to see what you decide to do with your hair, since we’ve got similar builds and tresses that can stun or overwhelm, depending on how we style them. I feel like I go from long-bob to just long and back again, sometimes with a layer or bang added for a change, but it’s always kind of the same. I would love something that is easy for my no-poo routine (I’ve been blow-drying more with cooler weather and all this length), but feels fresh, appropriate for my age, physical stature, and profession, and is feminine, flattering, and flexible. So you can see why my hair continues to grow down my back… ;)

The photo and photo text you used is awesome! Gabe is such a cutie, and I can’t say that enough.

Hope you accomplish everything you want to this month. Happy December!

Ahhh that picture! Love love love!

Great December intentions – I think mine is to….um, survive the month? It’s already hectic and chaos and I’m excited for Christmas but I feel it lurking around the corner, to jump out before I’m ready!
