2015 in Review

Filed Under: Personal & Life Updates 6 Comments

Please pardon any broken links or dust you might find while exploring my site – I’m in the process of changing permalinks and installing a new design!

Past year reviews: 2014 | 2013 | 2012 | 2011 | 2010 | 2009

January

January Sleep trained Theo for the first of a million times, started drinking green smoothies every day, which continued most days for the entire year, Mike defended his dissertation and flew to western Mass for his first post-PhD job interview. Tons of snow storms and I solo parented for the week before…

February

February

Puerto Rico! Then Mike got offered – and accepted – the job offer from the college in Massachusetts. The week in Puerto Rico got us through the rest of a horrifically cold winter.

March

MarchCompletely overhauled my work process for onboarding clients, which proved to be the best business thing I did all year. Went outside everyday and did a 30 day meditation challenge that made me love meditation.

April

April

Started developing locally, which was also work life changing. Celebrated Easter. Theo started walking.

May

mayA grocery store opened across the street from our apartment and we went almost daily. I quit all social media for my annual social media break. House hunted in MA way too much.

June

june

Implemented a post-launch system for clients. Went to the beach in South Carolina with Mike’s family for a week. Decluttered and stressed a ton in preparation for our move. Theo turned one!

July

July

Drove to MA to house hunt, drove down to North Carolina for a week at the beach with my extended family, then drove back to Ohio. Spent half this month on the road.

August

august

Went to Toronto, decluttered and sold a ton before moving out of our home for the past five years. Mike graduated with his PhD! We lived with my parents for 2.5 weeks, during which Gabe and Theo had a joint birthday party. On the last day of the month, Mike’s birthday, we officially moved to Massachusetts.

September

September

Gabe turned 5 with a train ride and a giant donut on the first. I had a little culture shock adjusting to a new part of the country. Mike started his new job, which was gloriously more flexible than his old one. Started making friends. Went to the Big E – an amazing fair.

October

October

Sent my first newsletters for Little Leaf, went to New York to meet my parents for a weekend, turned 31, and took two little gnomes trick or treating and to a corn maze and to several apple orchards.

November

November

Walked a lot, didn’t bake (because hi, I have a sugar addiction), my parents visited Massachusetts for a weekend, and we drove to Ohio for Thanksgiving.

December

DecemberRan every single day. Went to Mystic, Connecticut, met up with friends a few times, enjoyed the lack of cold and snow.

\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \

Where we traveled this year: Massachusetts, Connecticut (Mystic), Virginia (Richmond!), North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Puerto Rico, Toronto, and New York state.

What I’m most proud of: cultivating new relationships after moving and earning 35% more than I did last year.

What I learned this year: I am capable of teaching Gabe and I greatly prefer sharing childcare to being the main parent.

Favorite books read in 2015: (non-fiction) Mindless Eating & (fiction) Where’d You Go, Bernadette* & (funny non-fiction) Dad is Fat*.  *(highly recommend the audiobook)

Favorite podcasts found in 2015: Happier & Sorta Awesome

Favorite TV shows watched in 2015: Grace and Frankie & Newsroom

What a great year it’s been, I love this recap! Cheers to 2016, can’t wait to see what it brings for your little family!

Also, Where’d You Go Bernadette? is one of my favorites. Same with Grace & Frankie, such a great little show.
