A Family Photo Shoot: Meet the Calhouns.

Filed Under: Personal & Life Updates 8 Comments

It was a cloudy day with a few sprinkles of rain when we arrived at the park, but considering how fantastic they all looked, we went on with the shoot and I’m so glad we did! This family was so much fun. Heather is an online business lady like mahself, so aside from plenty of family shots, I wanted to get some head shots for her work. I also ended up getting dozens of shots of their firecracker of a daughter, an incredibly adorable four-year-old. She and my camera were like magnets to each other.

This family is entirely too beautiful.

I mean, are you kidding me with this girl?

This photo is just so incredibly adorable I actually can’t handle it. I’m a sucker for daddy-daughter shots!

All in all, a lovely fall photo shoot with a lovely family.

Photog note: I’m still working on getting comfortable with my 5D (most of these were Rebel XS), but I was really excited that my understanding of light is growing and I was able to capture shots despite the intensely gray sky. Always learning! :)

Great job Ashley! It’s definitely obvious that your understanding of light is growing. Isn’t it amazing what a difference that makes? Can’t wait to see more of your work with your new 5D!

I’m impressed with your skill! I love photos on rainy or overcast days — the object always seems to glow or something.

Beautiful pictures! :) So I probably should have asked this a while ago… but do you do newborn pictures? Or would you be willing to do newborn pictures? I’ve been asking + asking around for people who do newborn photos, but totally forgot for a second that you are local!! :)

I love these shots, Ashley. In fact, I think some of the best photos come with cloudy days. You don’t have to worry about eye squinting and shadows on your subjects’ faces. Whatever you did, these photos pop with color and brightness. Nice job.
