Personal & Life Updates

Dress for the Day: Red Pants and Fuzzy Hair.

Filed Under: Personal & Life Updates 13 Comments

I have come to believe that elasticized waists on tops and petite sizes are two keys to clothes that look good on me. I love the big, slouchy look, but it can swallow me whole, since I’m so short. Elastic waisted shirts are where it’s at. Plus, it means I still get a roomy shirt which is perfect for days I plan to eat a lot. (My post-child stomach looks like I’m four months pregnant after I eat a big meal. Is it just me? Because it’s attractive.)

Some days, I try to embrace The Big. By which I mean: some days, I don’t want to use a straightener or pull my hair back. (I’m sorry, but I cannot get over how wonky my eyes look thanks to this warped mirror. WONKY!)

I am still pretty awful at taking these outfit photos of myself. I take them in a warped mirror (which is at least clean this time). And I always take them when I get home from work, which is the sunniest time of day – harsh sun isn’t pretty.

Look at me, being all daring and pairing two really bold colors (and even a pattern!). I’m probably going to need to wear black pants and boring shirts for a week to recuperate from this excitement.

These shoes are the best because they are heels that don’t really hurt. I am planning to buy a few pairs of comfortable vegan shoes, and this guide on The Green Forks has Vegan UGG boots that are Cruelty Free. Also, I was going to edit that stray bobby pin out, but I wanted to keep it real on this blog. There are stray bobby pins at least every two feet in this apartment.

These pants have a side zipper, which makes them seem dressier. They’re still super comfortable, though. Every time I wear them, someone comments on my ‘red pants’!

(I realize now that this looks like a butt shot. Oops.)

Pants: LOFT // Top (a different color): LOFT // Boots: Target

I’m so glad someone else has the same problem with the “still pregnant” look, especially after eating! I get so frustrated by this……two.years.later!

You’re adorable. And I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets a huge food baby after every meal. I swear that didn’t happen before I got pregnant!

I’m cracking up at the bobby pin. My mom says she is still finding bobby pins all over the place, and I haven’t lived there for years!

Bahaha. Your eye is SO wonky in that picture that I busted out laughing. It doesn’t even look like you. And cute outfits! I need get some new clothes that are more colorful than my boring black, blue, and grey, and green wardrobe (Ew, it sounds like I dress like a bruise)

I recently wore a purple/maroon sweater with my bright turquoise skinny jeans (at the suggestion of Twitter!) and feel the same way you do about needing to rock neutrals for a week to recover from that adventure :) It totally worked, and I loved it, but whew! Back to gray for a few days :)

Go you for being brave with those colors! I too look 5 months pregnant after I eat too much. I call it my snake belly. ;)

You are just so cute! I’m so jealous of your daring-ness with clothes, I wish I could trust myself to try to pull things off.

i have a question about your bangs! they look great. i’ve been considering bangs for a while now…. i have a mix of wavy and straight hair- often poofy. thinner than yours. are the bangs high maintenance? do you dry them or let them air dry? i worry that if i cut bangs they would stick in all different directions instead of laying flat!

Side zip pants are the BEST! I’m no petite miss, but when I wear side zip pants, I always feel like my stomach looks flatter…but that just could be wishful thinking. :-)

I have the bobby pin problem at home and at work on my desk. Love the look!

Can you help me embrace the big? My hair is like that too and I struggle with being ok with it sometimes, and then other days I just don’t care at all :)
