He’s Not a Baby, Not Yet a Toddler.

(Yes, I still sing old Britney Spears songs to myself.)

(She’s so lucky, she’s a star. But she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart…Ahem.)

(If you have no idea what I’m talking about: this.)

Gabe is in limbo between babyhood and toddlerhood, but took one giant leap into toddlerhood with his very first haircut.

His hair was getting a little ridiculous, but it was the rat’s nest in the back I just didn’t want to look at any longer. I mean, he’s not a girl, so why deal with the pain of tangled hair?

THE BEFORE (AKA: Proof He Needed the Haircut):

HairCutBefore

The hair over the ears? And that poof in the back? Oh, my sweet little baby.

We decided to do it ourselves, since a) We’re not paying money for someone to cut 10 baby hairs and b) He’s not good with strangers waving scissors near his face (or us, either, apparently).

We stuck him in his high chair on the porch and went to town.

Look! A photo-op with Mike cutting Gabe’s hair!haircut (1 of 2)
How do you feel about that, Gabe?

haircut (2 of 2)WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING TO ME, PEOPLE? I TRUSTED YOU.

Yeah, it didn’t actually go so well. Every time Mike brought the scissors near Gabe’s head, Gabe would lean away, all, Excuse me, but WHAT are you doing with those? It was quite ineffective.
HairCutDuring

The first lock of hair! What? Is it gross?

Finally, he ended up just sitting on my lap and hugging me with little arms around my neck (he’s so sweet and has been a little hugger lately), while Mike and I took turns chopping off bits of his little mane.

THE FINAL RESULT:

HairCutAfter

Goodbyeeee, babyhood!

(Just kidding, don’t leave me. I love you, babyhood. Actually, toddlerhood, you are also awesome. With your sticky little hands, long eyelashes, and sweet giggles. Mmm. Babies.)

There are so many “firsts” lately, aren’t there? I find it so bitter sweet. I love watching the girls grow up, and yet….my babies!

Aw, he looks like such a little boy now instead of a little baby :) We take Topher to Beaners to get his hair cut – he gets to sit in a hummer and honk the horn while his stylist (ha!) works away. His hair grows so fast, though, he gets it all buzzed off and needs another haircut in like 2 weeks. It’s ridiculous.

You guys did a great job!

My mom is coming after work today to give Jay another haircut. We paid for his 1st cut b’c we wanted to have the pictures, and the cute little certificate, etc. But, ever since then my mom has just cut it. (I don’t trust myself.) Today will be his 4th haircut. It’s to the point where strangers are commenting on how long his hair is so I figured it’s time again. His hair grows so fast!

haha I love his suspicious face! He looks adorable with his new cut!

We are still on the fence about cutting Audrey’s hair. It’s totally in her eyes all the time unless I pull it up on top of her head in a ponytail (nice to have options like that with girls!) but I keep thinking maybe we should get her bangs or something? I don’t know. Maggie was TWO AND A HALF before we cut her hair for the first time! So 13 months seems so early! Last week I was all CUT IT! This week I’m all, nah, nevermind. heh

Aw, that is too sweet. I hope you kept a lock of hair! (I’m a nerd and love little treasures like that.) His hair looks so baby soft…and he looks just precious with his new haircut.

What a sweet boy! I cracked up at the title because Eric and I say that about Hannah all the time. It’s amazing how much older a little haircut makes him look!
