Personal & Life Updates

May Updates & June Intentions.

Filed Under: Personal & Life Updates 12 Comments

DC-May (6 of 9)

[May Update]

Start running again. I ran 9 times, for a total of 34 miles. Not a bad start after running 4 times and 18 miles in the previous four months. I started some speedwork, too, with the help of RunKeeper. We were out of town for 5 days in May, so I’m hoping this month will be even better! I love the way running feels.

Abs + push ups + squats. Semi-success. I rock at squats and abs, but not so much with push ups. I lack the upper body strength, so I hate doing them. Catch-22.

Social media fast. Super success. I had an amazing, fantastic month. It still flew by, but I feel so much more in control over my consumption and how I spend my time.

Create a schedule/game plan/bucket list for summer. CHECK:

calendar

Mike created a handy little schedule for us since we’re both working from home. That sort of turns a fun, carefree summer into a productive, work-filled summer – but it’s what we need! With Mike working on his dissertation and me doing a whole lotta websites, we needed to create a childcare schedule so we can get serious about working (and, um, earning money). We’ll still have evenings free together, and we can each take Gabe out during our time to garden, play outside, go for a walk, to the park, and so on. I hope it will be a really fruitful, fun summer. Bucket list forthcoming.

[June Intentions]

I’m in such a better place – my body and my mind feels back to normal and for that, I am so thankful. Let’s set some goals!

Run MORE. Just talked about this. More running = a happier Ashley.

Go strawberry picking. I have been wanting to this for years but by the time I get it together enough to go, strawberry season is over. This year, you are mine, strawberries!

Photograph a wedding. I have turned down a lot of weddings, possibly since my first experience was such a crazy mess and I was terrified of a repeat. But this one? Should be awesome. It’s in Chicago, the reception is at bike-slash-coffee shop, and the bride is super laid-back and fun. Fingers crossed for electricity!

Work on Little Leaf website for eight hours. I have big plans, but I need to take time to work on those big plans. It’s hard working when it’s not for client, but I have to take time to do it! Since I’m working full-time for myself this summer, I’m hoping to find the time a little more easily.

It’s JUNE.  OMG. I’m hoping for a simpler, healthier summer full of family, work, and time outside!

I can’t believe it’s already June! Also, I’m seriously impressed with your success on your May resolutions, and I think a summer Plan (with a capital P) is a really, really good idea.

You’re so sweet! I’m so excited to meet you and have you join in on the weekend! The weather claims it’ll be 72 and sunny – so hopefully it’ll go smoothly! But we are willing to shut down the electricity if you need the practice. Just say the word.

I’m glad you are feeling so great! Are you on summer vaca from school yet? I feel like once that happens I’ll be a happier place :) I am working this summer too but it still won’t be even close to as crazy!

I can’t believe it’s June! My goal for the month is to start running again too ~ I’m supposed to run a 10k in September but I haven’t run more than 10 consecutive steps since I can’t remember when!

May sounds like it was really peaceful and productive! That’s great. Your upcoming wedding sounds like SO much fun! I’m sure you will rock it. Can’t wait to see photos! I’ll definitely cross my fingers that they have power this time…

You’re going to be in Chicago? In June? With your boys? I’m sure you’ll be crazy busy, but if you have extra time to meet up (at a playground, if toddlers are included), we’d love to see you!

I love love love your intentions lists. You’re so inspirational. I know it’s been a terrible few months, but just think of how many of us love and admire and want to be more like a person who sets goals and actually, regularly accomplishes them (that would be you).
