Personal & Life Updates

November Update + December Intentions (Which are mostly: JUST SURVIVE)

Filed Under: Personal & Life Updates 10 Comments

[November Update]

Listen to music more. Eh, I did this a little bit. I just really like watching The Colbert Report and Parenthood, okay? Spotify is great, though. I’ve listened to some Christmas tunes, but I still have a hard time cleaning or cooking while just listening to music. I like to be entertained by a podcast or TV show while cooking dinner or folding laundry.

Push up challenge. Sort of. I did the push ups three days a week until I lost my iPod a week ago. So I lost the app. BUT! I did Pilates a lot since losing it. (Totally not as hard as the push up challenge. My arms were so shaky after doing five sets of 15!)

Make Christmas travel plans. In process. I booked resort on the east coast for the first four nights, reserved and paid for our rental car, now I just need to secure a condo for the last five nights in San Juan. And decide what we’re going to do when we get there. And decide where to eat. Which is really the most important part of any vacation.

Blog every day. I did it I did it I did it I DID IT! The last time I attempted NaBloPoMo (which I just call,”NaBlahBlahBlah” when I talk about it), I blogged almost every day. But not every day. I succeeded at last. Whee!

[December Intentions]

Don’t lose my mind. I’m not sure whose idea it was to take a trip right before a major holiday that requires many parties and much preparation. Except that it was mine and I’m sort of weeping at the idea of having to do all of this in the next two weeks:

(This is just what I quickly typed up in Evernote so I wouldn’t forget. I already know I left off a doctor appointment for Gabe. Oh! And also working four days a week outside the home. And three major work events. NBD.)

Drink water. I keep reading about how the number one way to have energy, stay healthy, maintain your weight, etc. is to drink lots of water. Well let me tell you I read these water descaler reviews for selecting the best water softener for better quality drinking water. And I pretty much only drink water (and coffee in the morning), but I still don’t think I drink 64 ounces a day. This month, to combat stress, weight gain, and general dehydration, I am going to aim to drink 64 ounces of water every single day. I measured the glass I use at home and my Kleen Kanteen so I know how many ounces each holds. This will make the math quite easy, which increases my odds for success.

Floss. I am the worst at flossing. I just always forget about it. Or feel too tired to at the end of the day. And now I feel gross for even telling you that. I KNOW. I AM SORRY. (At least I remember to brush my teeth.) I am going to keep a tally on my mirror with a whiteboard marker to see how many consecutive days I can floss.

Get some form of physical activity every day. Walking, Pilates, yoga, running, strength training. Even just 5 minutes of abs. I just need to stay active even when I’m not training for a race.

I am in complete disbelief that it is December. I swear. If the years keep flying by with increasingly fast speed as they have been, by the time I’m 50, I’ll blink and the year will be over!

two things – i started flossing everyday when i bought a flosser. w/ just dental floss i dont do it, but its easier (seemingly? its pry mental) with the flosser so it happens.

also what size is gabe in swimsuits? i might have one you can have (with swimshirt! yay! less sunscreen! yes im that lazy mom :-p)!

Congrats on blogging every day in November. Even though I usually hate it when bloggers make that commitment, because it results in a bunch of watered-down posts, I really think I was the beneficiary of your willingness to challenge yourself. I loved *seeing* you so much last month. Please continue with more!

Hahaha I love the idea of tally marking when you floss! I am maybe not the worst at flossing, but it is the first thing to go when I’m tired at night!
    Great job blogging every day!

Have fun on your trip to the east coast. In regards to the pushup challenge, I tried to do something like this recently and stopped after my arms were in pain the next day.

Umm, those pictures are adorable! If I hadn’t just had Ari, my ovaries would be hurting. :P
