Days 6 & 7: Zion and Vegas. Wonderfully Crazy.

Filed Under: Personal & Life Updates 2 Comments

Zion National Park was one of the most gorgeous places I’ve ever been – hands down the most gorgeous place I’ve been (aside from Hawaii) in the US.

Don’t believe me? Check it out:

Sunflowers in Zion.
I feel like this is an ablum cover for a band of sunflowers. Or..maybe I’m just a weird kid.

The Narrows.
We were there for only 24 hours, so we hiked just a bit of the Narrows – a river that is between the canyon walls. Thank goodness for my new Keens. They were AWESOME.

At the Top of Angel's Landing.
We hiked HIGH. 1,488 feet to be exact. 5,785 feet above sea level. Yeah, be impressed.

(I was sweating like crazy and may have almost died from leg soreness the next day.)

Zion is Sexy.
Zion is sexy.

I’m totally printing and framing this sucker. And putting it at work so when I feel sad about being in front of a computer slaving away to the (wo)man, I’ll remember this feeling of freedom.

After spending the day in Zion, we binged on pizza and drove to Las Vegas…where we stayed in a NINETEEN DOLLAR hotel room.

And it was gorgeous! Super loud due to it being right about the Fremont Street Experience, but it had a huge TV, an iPod dock on the alarm clock, and the decor was adorable.

Nineteen Dollah.
Nineteen! Can you believe it?

He's Got Skillz.
While in Las Vegas, I determined that Asian folks are the ones who have all the unbelievable talent. Where can I sign up to get some of those skills? I mean, really.

Vegas was intense, that’s for sure. The amount of excess and over-the-topness – in sexuality, debauchery, and luxury was overwhelming. I was torn. One minute, I loved it. The next, I was annoyed with it. The next, I was amazed. The next, I was disgusted. I’m really glad I went – but I definitely don’t need to go again for a while.

New York, New York!
New York, New York (I met a guy who was wearing a Dayton Flyers shirt staying at that hotel. You know I totally talked to him. Go Flyers!)

We are TV Critics.
The coolest thing we did in Vegas was review a TV pilot – it was a crazy weird drama about cops and ‘roids and corruption. Good times.

You couldn't dream of a prettier sky.
After an interesting afternoon in Vegas, we drove to Los Angeles where more excitement awaited…

I don’t know how on earth I missed this post the first time around, but I am so glad you got to visit Zion! Angel’s Landing is perhaps my favorite spot in the state, that view just doesn’t ever get old.
