Jeggings

“Oh, hey! I want to write about Gap jeggings, so I’ll take a picture of myself in them to show how awesome they are!”

And then Gabe started yelling and my mirror was dusty and I am stuck with this photo.

It’s a true story, though. Gap sent me jeggings (and a few pairs of dress pants) and, oh my WORD, they are comfortable. They are truly the new mom jeans. They are soft and cozy enough to wear all day at home (for bending, crawling, dancing) and are completely acceptable to wear out in public for errands or hanging out with friends (unlike my yoga pants). They have pockets and belt loops and look very pant-like, without making you want to take them off the minute you walk in the door and slip into sweatpants.

Tim Gunn has a list of ten essential wardrobe items every woman needs, one of which is a ‘sweat suit alternative.’ And, my friends, I’ve found it: jeggings, a t-shirt, cardigan, and a scarf. Yes, ‘jegging’ is a terrible, awful name – but that doesn’t negate how awesomely comfy they are. Amen.

Prior to being a Gap-brand enthusiast, I admit I’d never bought one item from the store in my entire life. I always assumed it was too expensive for me. Nearly three years later, I have become full-on addicted to Gap clothes for both Gabe and myself. My favorite jeans of all time are ripping after two years of constant wear (I only have two pairs of jeans). BabyGap socks are the best socks ever. The maternity jeans and khakis I wore everyday are folded up in my closet waiting for their chance to shine again.

I’m finally learning the lesson about buying quality stuff being better than buying cheaply made, inexpensive stuff. (I also recently splurged on a pair of Nine West heels after enduring blisters again from my cheap Target pair). Less is more when it’s good quality.

I’m drinking the KoolAid, I suppose.

Anyhow, I have a gift card for a free pair of jeans to give away. Just in time to get a snazzy new pair of pants for the holidays!

To enter, leave a comment below! One entry per person. For use in the US and Canada, only. Giveaway ends Friday, December 9th at noon EST.

Gabe + AshleyGabe + Ashley

MOM JEANS.

Gap didn’t compensate me to write this, or even ask me to. Gushing is 100% my own opinion. They did give me some clothes, though, which were awesome.

After years of not finding anything there I liked, I LOVE the new Gap jeans. Long and lean, fit me perfectly. Worth every penny! :)

I would be sooo excited to get some Gap goodies! Definitely in need of some jeans, and some comfy mom jeans would be even more awesome!

I love Nine West! They make some of my most-loved and most-worn heels! :) I also think that quality is super important, I’ve loved some of my more expensive (to me) items so much they get ten times more wear than cheaper, trendier items.

So jealous of your jeggings! I am majorly in need of some new jeans right now too, so I really hope I win this giveaway!

ALSO – not sure if you will read this or not, but my anal self can’t stop staring at your cardigan being buttoned incorrectly in that otherwise adorable picture of you and Gabe! I am ridiculous, haha.

I love, love, LOVE my yoga pants… but not always appropriate to wear out in the world. I need some jeggings!!

New mom jeans… I love it.

I think I experienced much the same reaction to Gap. I thought it was too expensive. Then I bought one pair of pants, just one. Now I am lusting over a pair of black skinnies that have been in my online shopping cart for like a week. I need a pair of new pants… NEED! :)

Does anyone make jeggings in a curvy cut?

Boots are my example of “pay more now and they will last for years instead of months” items. Cheap boots are not worth the podiatrist fees they will cause!

I’m a HUGE HUGE fan of their Long and Lean style, but haven’t yet gotten to try their skinny jeans, or jeggings. I hope to, though!

  35. Steph says

    December 7, 2011 at 2:27 pm

jeggings are also awesome airplane attire. Because like you said, yoga pants are the best, but sometimes not the nicest to stare at.

  36. Melinda says

    December 7, 2011 at 2:27 pm

I splurged on Gap jeans once a few years ago and found out the benefits of adding quality basics to my wardrobe. Usually I don’t spend much on clothes, shopping mostly on the clearance racks and sales, but having quality go-to items really saves money in the long run. Since they are things I wear constantly they don’t wear out as fast as their counterparts. Thanks for the chance to win another pair of jeans!

  37. Pamela says

    December 7, 2011 at 2:28 pm

I am a Gap convert as well, and have also finally accepted that spending a tiny bit more (Gap has some great sales!) on clothes that will last is SO worth it.

  38. Kelsey says

Being a GAP brand enthusiast is, like, my dream. Alas, I shall live vicariously through you. I LOVE GAP JEANS. I actually don’t own any pants that AREN’T from the GAP, so winning another pair (especially as I’m losing some weight!!!) would make my Christmas bright.

  50. Shelley says

    December 7, 2011 at 2:58 pm

Last year I had a hard time finding a new pair of jeans. By the time I got to GAP I was almost ready to throw in the towel and then found a pair that I liked, looked decent on me, and actually fit right! Except they didn’t have a pair left in the color I wanted… so while on a trip to Chicago I dragged my boyfriend to the store on Michigan Ave so that I could get the ones I wanted. My current two pairs of jeans would like some company!

  51. natasha says

    December 7, 2011 at 3:00 pm

My 10 year old daughter recently enlightened me about jeggings LOL. What do I know, just an old mom. She loves the Gap and wears a size 10 “super skinny” in their jeans. She complains kids tease her about being skinny and I told her when she’s my age she will miss being so “skinny!”

  67. Ashlie says

I have one pair of jeggings but they are from Marshals and the material looks wayyyy different than the Gap brand in your picture! I’m not even sure what brand mine are! (They may not be any brand name at all) he he I do love Gap clothes as well, but I will have to wait until I”m out of school and have my “big girl” job before I can shop there on a regular basis. I do have one pair of Gap jeans though and they are my favorite ever! They are the straight leg ones. Great for tucking right into boots! :)

  68. Ashley Simenc says

    December 7, 2011 at 4:04 pm

  69. Tamara Wilkins says

    December 7, 2011 at 4:16 pm

  73. Becky says

    December 7, 2011 at 4:28 pm

Um, could you tell Gap to send me some clothes…or maybe just for me to win this giveaway? :) I’ve been hesitant to try jeggings because the word repulses me…maybe I’ll give them another go – I’ll just refer to them as something else.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Gap jeans that I got at your jeans party…and a few pairs I got after that :) Sadly when I went to NYC last spring break I somehow ripped my newest & most comfortable pair…they were a little stretchy and I loved them. Sadly the rip has grown and I don’t know if it’s repairable, but I haven’t thrown them away because I can’t bear to do it…I’d rather patch them in a ridiculous way and at least have the luxury to wear them around the house and when doing yard work :)

I’m just shy of 5’9″ and a size 6 or 8. Not THAT tall and not THAT thin but can never seem to find jeans that are long enough. Especially if I want to wear them with heels. I’ll have to check out the Gap… Maybe they make a long jean that is really long :)

I have jeggings as well and LOVE them- I refer to them as my “pajama jeans” like the ones on the infomercial. If they are wrong I don’t wanna be right!

I don’t think leggings are recommended (fashion-wise) for larger ladies like myself (makes us look even bigger).

But I may watch a little too much TLC “What not to wear”!

Yes! My Gap jeggings (before my Summer of Carbs) were the best thing I owned. I would make people feel how soft they were. It was totally awkward.

I’ve been wearing “Yoga Jeans” (http://www.secondclothing.com/product.php?id=3) for years, but they are over $100. These “jeggings” sound like a better-priced alternative!

Not sure about the “jeggings,” but I’d love to win a pair of Gap jeans. My one and only such pair is from the thrift store and they’re well-loved and beginning to fall apart. Thanks for the giveaway!

I havent been to Gap in years, loved it in school, but now just thought was too expensive. Though knowing you are a fan, I will likely stop in next time I am at the mall.
Off topic, but thank you. I am embarassed to say this but I never thought of being less wasteful until I came across your blog a couple years ago. I am not only becoming more enviromentally conscious but saving money. I have been meaning to comment for years and thank you.
